Finally I can sit down and write and not have to worry about not being able to understand how to use this platform 😂, I’m not going to lie but it was super hard to get this working but it’s fine now and I think it was just me being a tad incompetent… whoops! Anyway, we are on a roll now so no more worries which is great.
The past few weeks have been pretty packed, I have gone back to school for the first time in six months which was literally the most daunting but best thing as I honestly was itching to go back and do normal classes. We went on holiday to North Norfolk it was so beautiful and for me it helped to ground me back to nature. I am not sure if I’m the only one who gets this but sometimes I get a feeling like right at the bottom of my gut that physically tells me that I need to go outside whether that be the woods, local estuary or simply in the garden please tell me if you get this as I would love to find out where and why it gets us like this!
However the biggest thing that happened was I got to go to my first protest since lock down and it felt SO GOOD to be back with my Extinction Rebellion group (XR). My closest group is XR Chelmsford and I cannot think of a better group of people so I was so exited to go back even if there was only a few of us. You see Mum and I are part of the home guard so this basically means we don’t go into London but help back at base, this could be micro protests to handing out leaflets or just supporting others in our group who are in London. The home guard decided to a micro protest out side our council office so I decided to give my banner an upgrade we went simple but effective with this one I thought it was quite striking! bright and early on the Tuesday morning there we were there. I love going to protests as you get to talk to people from all walks of life and it is amazing the reaction you get from some people like for example one guy came up to us and started playing guitar. That’s why I love XR it is so excepting and has made me find my tribe and like-minded people fighting for the same thing!
When we went away Mum and I are a bit of a sucker for a book but one on my to read is called “How we’re f***ing up our planet and what we can do about it” by Tony Juniper. I am looking forward to having a read the illustrations in it look great and user friendly as I would really like to get up to scratch with some science so this book is definitely going to help (I will update in a few weeks).
Lastly my Mum has been asked to write nature articles for adults who have only just discovered nature in lock down she has written two now on nature connection in autumn and another one bees so I will link them here to go and have a little read (The bee one is my personal favourite) but I like them all as it emphasises we need the whole community doing there bit. Also I am going to try doing one blog post a week on here on a Sunday evening just to help me with organisation!
Have a lovely week and remember to go outside and connect to nature. 🙂
